James M. VanArtsdalen
Co-founder and Chairman
Co-founder and Chairman of PERFMAN, Jim VanArtsdalen has over 25 years of information systems operations, development and management experience. He brings to PERFMAN a diversified background of business and information systems management skills, in addition to applications and systems analysis expertise.
Prior to founding PERFMAN, Jim was an IT consultant focused on systems management for many companies including: Blue Cross, BMW of North America, DuPont, and Mack Trucks. Jim was also the data center manager for Bethlehem Steel Corp and spent five years as a systems engineer for IBM.
He received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Lehigh University.
Bill Shelden, Jr., Ph.D
Co-Founder and Chief Scientist
Co-founder and Chief Scientist at PERFMAN, Bill Shelden has over 40 years of information systems experience. He brings to PERFMAN a diversified background in computer systems performance analysis and has been responsible for many of the analysis and modeling tools found in PERFMAN. Bill is a frequent speaker at national and local CMG meetings.
Prior to co-founding PERFMAN, Bill spent 21 years with IBM as a Systems Engineer specializing in large systems performance analysis and capacity planning. His assignments with IBM included working with Bethlehem Steel and many Fortune 500 companies in the Philadelphia area.
He received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Lafayette College and a master’s degree and a Ph.D in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Pete has held a number of positions with significant management responsibility in several Fortune 200 Corporations. His knowledge of management and technical issues in the industry, his focus on customer satisfaction and his innovative abilities, combine to produce effective, powerful and flexible solutions for PERFMAN customers.
